In 2003, seven Woodbury leaders convened a variety of volunteer groups from the community to identify what was needed to further their charitable work. Armed with this information, the Friends of Woodbury began, focused on offering expertise, guidance and funding to other organizations. It was renamed and re-organized in 2006 as the Woodbury Community Foundation to better reflect the service the organization wanted to provide to the local community and its vision of the future. At Woodbury Community Foundations (WCF), it is their goal to ensure community well-being for all in Woodbury and help make our community a great place to live, work, and play. Their goals are to promote philanthropy to build a culture of giving within Woodbury and provide stewardship of permanent community resources, build bridges between local government, non-profits and businesses, provide community leadership by convening others around key topics and areas of interest, act as a catalyst for change to improve Woodbury and inspire and engage its citizens, and fund non-profits that fit its guidelines and serve citizens.
